The German company 'Wortmann Treppen' secured a project to produce curved solid oak staircase railings for a school building. Measuring such complex curves proved an extremely difficult task until the Flexijet 3D laser measuring system was brought in to undertake the job. Flexijet 3D was used to accurately template the curved concrete balustrade and the final CAD drawing was exported to a CNC machine to produce the handrails from solid oak.
In just over a day, the complex concrete curves were templated with Flexijet 3D. The precise measurements provided with Flexijet 3D meant that accurate fabrication of the handrails was possible with the CNC machine. There were no complications during installation of the handrails – every part fitted as planned! Johannes Wortman: "Without the precision of Flexijet 3D, this project would not have been economical. In fact, we would not have accepted this project without our Flexijet 3D!"
