The emergency stairs of a public building required measurement for the construction of a steel balustrade. Using Flexijet 3D, the measurements and drawing were completed in 2.5 hours. Using the spatial referencing feature in the FlexiCAD® software, Flexijet 3D was relocated as required without losing any measurement references as the device was moved up or down the stairs during the measurement process.
The balustrade was produced and installed with a precision that was not possible using traditional methods of measurement. In normal balustrade installations, there would also be substantial re-working on the job site. This would include additional welding and re-bending of the railing to ensure a perfect fit (estimated at 6 hours for this job). Over the 8 meters height difference, the overall variation was just 1mm. This level of accuracy would not be possible with traditional measurement methods.
